QPR are set for upheaval this summer, with a managerial change and the expected adjustments to the playing roster.
QPR have placed manager Marti Cifuentes on gardening leave, and while it has not been officially announced, it appears like he will be leaving.
Regardless of who is in charge at Loftus Road, the R’s playing squad will undergo changes. A few players’ departures have been confirmed, although negotiations with Jimmy Dunne are still ongoing.
Kenneth Paal, a left-back, is among those who have been confirmed to depart. It was a move that many expected, but it reveals a significant weakness in the squad.
However, following his Dundee loan, Ziyad Larkeche may be given another chance to play for QPR. Making room for a Larkeche chance? With Paal leaving for pastures new, QPR will need to find a new starting left-back. Now there are in-house choices available.
Brazilian teenager Esquerdinha is a highly rated potential, while Morgan Fox is a more experienced option, though he has primarily been employed as a centre-back in recent years, and his contract is also expiring.
It could provide an opportunity for Larkeche to reclaim the starting position. Few would argue that after his Dundee loan, he deserves this opportunity.
The Frenchman dazzled in Scotland, scoring three goals and assisting five times in 31 appearances while playing as a full-back or wing-back.
Impressing the future QPR manager. With Cifuentes’ departure imminent, the QPR side will most likely start fresh with their new manager.
Larkeche did not necessarily disappoint under Cifuentes, but he will undoubtedly profit from this. He enters the summer with the wind in his sails after a successful season and is determined to make a statement.
Paal’s departure will provide Larkeche with more opportunities to shine throughout the preseason. If he does, he may be able to join the R’s squad under their new management.
If not, it appears that the former Fulham and PSG teenager will seek pastures new. He has demonstrated his ability to play regular minutes and will be eager to continue after a successful season.
