Sunderland have had some very ambitious transfer targets over the past year, and some could be back on the radar this summer.

Sunderland are set for a long and exciting summer window. After securing their status back in the Premier League, SAFC are going to have a big budget to spend in order to stand the best chance of survival.

The Black Cats have already made one signing this summer, breaking their transfer record to sign Enzo Le Fee. The Frenchman had been on loan with Sunderland since January, and due to their promotion, he was obligated to move to Wearside permanently.

Sunderland will likely have some ambitious targets this summer after the brilliant start with Le Fee. Several names from across Europe are being linked with a move to SAFC.

Due to the model in place, the club have been keen on many players who have gone onto to good things, and some of those players could become options for Sunderland this summer.

With that said, here are three former targets that could be back on the table for SAFC this summer…

Semih Kilicsoy

Kilicsoy is a rumoured target for Leeds United this summer, but Sunderland made an approach to sign him last January. Journalist Gokmen Ozcan reported that the Black Cats had made a loan offer with an obligation to buy.

At just 19 years old, Kilicsoy has already made 81 appearances for the Besiktas first team, having previously scored 42 goals in 64 matches for their U19 side. So far, he has recorded 16 goals and nine assists at senior level.

He would certainly work with the club’s transfer model given his age. With SAFC targeting wingers this summer, Kilicsoy could definitely be an option on Wearside as he can play out wide or as a striker.

Lucas Stassin

Stassin is a long-term target for Sunderland with links going back to the summer of 2023. The Belgian forward joined St Etienne last summer, rejecting SAFC in the process.

Despite St Etienne being relegated from Ligue 1 this season, Stassin personally had a great campaign. The striker scored 12 goals in 28 games in the French top flight and is a target for Premier League Wolves this summer.

After first making a move for Stassin during his Anderlecht days, this summer could finally be the time Sunderland get their man. He could be available for a good fee after St Etienne’s relegation.
