Former Boro shot-stopper Mark Travers is likely to quit AFC Bournemouth and join Everton.
Mark Travers, a former Middlesbrough loanee, is close to making a significant decision about his future after agreeing a £4 million agreement with Everton.
The Bournemouth shot-stopper is on his way to Merseyside for a physical this morning to finalize the transfer, with the 26-year-old poised to serve as a backup to England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Travers excelled during a half-season stint on Teesside last season, joining the club in January as part of Michael Carrick’s winter reshuffle.
He appeared 17 times for Boro, helping to put their play-off campaign back on track, however they fell short at the last hurdle.
Boro wanted to keep him at the Riverside on a permanent basis, but Bournemouth’s valuation precluded a move.
However, Everton had made their move, with Travers set to remain in the Premier League as the Toffees seek a more successful season under David Moyes.

Despite his brief tenure at the club, Travers immediately became a popular character among Boro fans, and he left a message on social media after leaving.
“Not the way we wanted to finish the season but just wanted to thank all the fans for their amazing support throughout my time at the club!” said the player.
“Also, many thanks to the players and staff for welcome me to Middlesbrough and making it a pleasant experience! UTB.”
Following the first two weeks of pre-season training, new Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards is assessing his goalkeeping alternatives. He has Seny Dieng, Tom Glover, and Sol Brynn at his disposal, with Senegal goalkeeper Dieng set to return to training after an Achilles injury.
