QPR’s future remains uncertain after placing Mart Cifuentes on gardening leave. This summer, we can expect significant squad changes at Loftus Road, as a new manager will want to put his own stamp on the squad. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the best upcoming Championship free agents for the summer.
Dolan has become a valuable player for Blackburn Rovers, but his contract expires at the end of the season. According to The Lancashire Telegraph, the winger is considering staying but may leave due to interest from Middlesbrough and other clubs. It is said that Dolan will make his decision after going on vacation with his family.
Grady Diangana is out of contract at West Brom. As the club searches for a new manager, the winger may consider joining a club with a clearer project. He is 27 years old and a high-level Championship winger.
Preston’s custodian has proven to be a capable starter in the Championship, and he may be available for transfer this summer. Although he has been linked with the Premier League, he may consider a Championship opportunity.
John Swift
It was reported in March that West Brom had not advanced contract discussions with Swift, and it appears that he may leave the Baggies. The 29-year-old is a real weapon in the Championship, best suited to an attacking midfield role, and he would be an excellent signing for free.
Nathan Redmond
Redmond’s contract at Burnley expires after this season, and at 31 years old, with the Clarets expected to strengthen, he is likely to leave. Millwall or QPR could do with his experience, and he would surely be a fine addition both on and off the pitch.
Matt Clarke
The Derby County centre-back returned to the club in January and could be available this summer when his short-term contract expires. The 28-year-old made 30 league appearances for Derby to help them stay in the Championship, and he would provide competition for either Millwall or QPR’s back lines.
Harry Darling
Darling, another centre-back, is a Swansea City regular, having made 39 league appearances. Darling is 25 years old and a high-potential player. If Swansea cannot tie him down, he will undoubtedly become a starter elsewhere this summer.
Yakou Meite
Meite is out of contract at Cardiff City, who have been relegated to League One, potentially making him available. The experienced forward is unlikely to start for Millwall or QPR, but he is an excellent backup forward. He works hard and can play both as a striker and a winger.
