OPINION Matheus Cunha signed, double striker deal completed – Man United’s dream squad with three new additions.
Manchester United intend to bolster their squad this summer, and no department requires more attention than their attacking ranks.

Ruben Amorim is just hours away from starting his first summer transfer window as Manchester United’s head coach.
The window will open on Sunday and close briefly on Tuesday, June 10. The window is opening earlier than usual due to an exceptional registration period for the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place this summer
The window will then reopen on Monday, June 16 until the 7pm deadline on Monday, September 1, giving clubs plenty of time to finalise deals and prepare their squads for the 2025/26 season.
United values the summer transfer window more than ever before. This season was the club’s worst in 51 years, and significant changes are needed across the board.
However, as a result of missing out on European qualification for next season, United will be unable to make as many changes as they would have been able to if they had qualified for the Champions League. This week, Amorim admitted that United “cannot do much”.
Possible player sales, such as those of Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, could impact United’s potential. They prioritise strengthening their attack and are well on their way to doing so.

Wolves are set to sign Matheus Cunha as their first signing of the summer, assuming no last-minute issues. United are still in talks with the Midlands club about how to structure the payment of his £62.5 million release clause.
If and when United completes the deal, he is expected to immediately join Amorim’s first-choice XI and play as the left-sided No.10. He is comfortable playing that position in a three-at-the-back formation.
United had also identified Ipswich Town ace Liam Delap as a top target to strengthen the No.9 position. United desperately needed a striker this summer, and Delap was a viable option at £30 million.

Liam Delap is increasingly likely to join Chelsea.
However, he is on the verge of joining Chelsea, so United’s search for a striker will have to take them elsewhere.
Despite scoring 12 goals for a relegated team this season, Delap remains raw and unproven. Instead, United require a more established figure who can provide a greater guarantee of goals.
United should consider Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as their best option. Napoli are eager to offload him as soon as possible this summer following his loan spell at Galatasaray, where he scored 36 goals, and he has a track record of scoring goals almost everywhere he has played.
Of course, the elephant in the room is that United cannot offer any prospective signings European football for the upcoming season. Osimhen would be a guaranteed starter and could pursue his dream of playing in the Premier League.
Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo has also been linked with United in the last week or so, and he would be another big signing. He scored 20 Premier League goals this season and is expected to command a lot of attention this summer.
He would be an ideal fit for United’s front three, playing as the right-sided No. 10. He also possesses the versatility that Amorim desires in his players.

The rest of United’s squad may remain largely unchanged this summer as strengthening the attack becomes a top priority. Player sales, as previously documented, will determine what is available.
There are opportunities for United to improve in the centre of midfield and goal. However, United is reasonably well-stocked in other areas, so recruitment for lower-priority positions may have to wait until after the summer.
However, if Fernandes is sold for the reported £100 million fee that Al-Hilal is willing to pay, more could be achieved. However, United should try to keep the Portuguese international despite his importance to the team.

Starting lineup: Onana; Yoro, Maguire, Heaven; Amad, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Osimhen.
Substitutions: Bayindir, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Mainoo, Mount, Zirkzee, and Obi.
