The Las Vegas Raiders were lucky enough to land Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft.
His debut season was memorable, as he caught 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. Bowers made the Pro Bowl in his first professional season and was awarded a First-Team All-Pro. During his debut year, he set multiple Raiders and NFL tight end or rookie records.
His outstanding season has earned him a rightful place among the league’s greatest tight ends.

On a recent edition of Pardon My Take, legendary NFL tight end Greg Olsen, who went to three Pro Bowls and received two All-Pro honours, discussed what makes Bowers such a unique player.
“That is just unique, to be that tall, that long, super linear, in (the SEC), and you look like the fastest guy on the pitch,” said Olsen. “If he was able to come out of the draft after his second year, … He would have been a top 10 pick.”
Olsen also has a good grasp of both head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith, having played alongside them for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020. He discussed what Raider Nation should expect from Bowers and the new regime this season and in the future.
“He’s uniquely talented,” Olsen added. “I’ll be eager to watch how that plays out with the new management and Pete Carroll. Geno adores his tight ends, but they plan to run the ball. As far as talent, I believe he is the best tight end prospect to come out of the draft in the last 10-15 years. His rookie season matched, if not exceeded, it, which was quite amazing.”
On Sunday, September 7, Bowers and the Raiders will travel to play the New England Patriots in the first game of the 2025 NFL season.
