DEFENDER Timothy Akindileni has joined QPR’s Development Squad, completing a switch from Aberdeen.

The 17-year-old left-footed centre-back, who is 6’4″ tall, joined Pittodrie in September 2023 after a trial. He is now looking forward to taking on a new challenge with the R’s south of the border. “I’m over the moon,” he exclaimed. “There was interest from other clubs, but QPR stood out to me because of the exceptional development opportunities for young players.

“You can see it in all of the young players who are making their way to the first team, and that is what drew me to this club. “The whole point of going into an academy is to work your way up to the first team, because that fuels you to work harder every day.” Akindileni has had an odd football career to date. He only joined the Dons as a professional less than two years ago, having previously played for local club East End Lewis. After impressing at the academy level, he made his international debut for the Czech Republic Under-18s in March this year.

Akindileni is now focussing on the next phase of his career. “Coming down to England is a big step,” he continued, “but I believe it is a chance you cannot pass up. “It’s just a great challenge for me and I’m really looking forward to it.” CEO Christian Nourry stated, “The club’s continued focus on acquiring players of Timmy’s age and profile is emphasised by his arrival today.” “He is a highly promising talent with the physical attributes to establish himself as a left-footed centre defence at the professional level.

“On top of that, he is a young man with maturity and focus above his years, which we hope will make him extremely coachable. On behalf of the entire club, I cordially greet him.
