Richard Smallwood, the 34-year-old captain of newly promoted Bradford City, was released by the team after no new contract was offered to him.
The former Middlesbrough, Rotherham United, and Blackburn Rovers midfielder moved to Valley Parade from Hull City in 2022, and he has since made 156 appearances for the Bantams, including 43 in League Two the previous season.
