Trabzonspor hero comes to Paul Onuachu and Southampton’s transfer rescue.

Mehmet Yilmaz, a former Trabzonspor striker, backs Onuachu’s signing with his former club.
Whether you like it or not, Paul Onuachu’s Super Lig return saga is still going on and may never end. Especially after Trabzonspor’s lowball bid of €4 million for the Nigerian forward.
However, while this recent offer must have frustrated Saints fans, it would have left them even more perplexed. And rightly so, given the mixed reactions they’ve been getting from the Turkish clubs’ entourage all along.
Not to mention that Trabzonspor’s manager, Faith Tekke, approved Onuachu’s return to the club only a week ago. However, the club’s modest financial response has failed to match the same level of interest.
Fortunately, in this negotiation standoff between the Turkish club and Southampton, a former club forward has returned to help speed up the process.
Trabzonspor’s heroic striker Mehmet Yilmaz’s Paul Onuachu verdict is expected to accelerate the player’s transfer.
Mehmet Yilmaz arrives at Southampton’s Onuachu transfer rescue.
Yilmaz told Gunebakis (via Inside Futbol) in an ironic tone, “You may pay €5 million to €6 million to names you don’t know what they’ll do and then have problems.” Nobody should be concerned about Onuachu’s age. Unquestionably, Onuachu should be the first transfer.
To be honest, Yilmaz’s comment expresses his concern for Trabzonspor, who missed out on a European spot for next season, but it could also benefit Southampton.
For the Saints who have worked hard to leave Onuachu, Yilmaz’s words can help move the deal forward from where boss Tekke’s praise left it.
Yet, it all depends on the club President in the end. Dogan has previously played hardball to get the best possible position for themselves, but if this happens again, Southampton may back off this time.
That’s because, after giving their all for Onuachu’s Trabzonspor reunion, they shouldn’t push themselves any further. The 31-year-old is a tall and prolific striker who could serve as an ideal rotation player for Ross Stewart under Will Still.
However, the summer transfer window has only just begun, so a deal is still very much possible. Until then, let us wait for Trabzonspor’s next move in the Paul Onuachu transfer saga.
