Jack Wilshere’s true feelings on becoming Plymouth Argyle manager revealed as frontrunner emerges

Plymouth Argyle endured a tough weekend which resulted in Miron Muslic leaving the club, but EFL Analysis can now exclusively reveal that a frontrunner in the search for a new manager has come to the fore.

The Pilgrims suffered relegation this season despite a spirited fight in the back end of the campaign, leading to widespread praise for the work Muslic did since joining the club.

However, this, of course, led to increased attention for the Austrian coach, and over the weekend, he made it clear he would like to move on.

In the end, Plymouth chairman Simon Hallett was left with ‘no choice’ but to let Muslic go to Schalke. Not ideal preparation for life in League One, but the club may now have found his replacement already.

Now, thanks to information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Wilshere is not only in the running for the role, but he stands a great chance of bagging the job.

Sources claim the links between Wilshere and Plymouth have “real legs” and we are led to believe that the young coach is now the frontrunner for the post at Home Park.

This is helped by the fact that Wilshere definitely wants the job. While plenty of candidates have put themselves forward for the role, the former Arsenal and Norwich man now looks to be at the top of the pile.

Jack Wilshere’s managerial career to date

Wilshere left Norwich recently, making no secret of the fact he was keen to secure a head coach role elsewhere.

That came off the back of the 33-year-old taking charge of the Canaries for two matches at the end of the season in the wake of Johannes Hoff Thorup’s departure.

While at Norwich, Wilshere oversaw a 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough and a 4-2 win over Cardiff City.

He has also spent a significant amount of time working with the Arsenal youth teams, where he earned himself a strong reputation as one of the brightest up-and-coming coaches in the game.
