Johannes Hoff Thorup makes significant QPR decision after holding talks with the R’s.

QPR are forced to continue their search for a new manager after Johannes Hoff Thorup turned down a job offer at Loftus Road.
While Marti Cifuentes remains in charge, Thorup appeared to be in line to succeed him after being placed on gardening leave due to his interest in the West Bromwich Albion position. QPR are in the midst of a busy season, with Jonathan Varane being the subject of a Espanyol bid, and the West London club will be seeking for a new head coach to take command swiftly in order to bring stability to the team. However, they will have to hunt elsewhere for Cifuentes’ replacement, significantly delaying QPR’s preparations for the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Johannes Hoff Thorup rejects offer from QPR
According to Danish publication Tipsbladet, the former Norwich City manager turned down an offer from the R’s after going to London for talks.

EFL Analysis previously revealed that the 36-year-old had more alternatives than only QPR, with proposals from all over Europe after Norwich fired him near the conclusion of the season – the Canaries eventually ended 13th. Queens Park Rangers must now act fast to examine other possibilities, since it appears unlikely that they will be able to lure Thorup to Loftus Road this summer. TipsBladet also claimed that they approached the Danish manager for a statement, but he is unwilling to speak at this moment.
There may be time for Marti Cifuentes to make amends
While Cifuentes will face a lot of criticism after appearing to force a move away from QPR, he demonstrated throughout the 2024/25 season how essential he is to the team going forward. A bad run of form at the end of the season cost the R’s a chance of making the play-offs, but after a disastrous first few months, he was able to lift his team out of danger of relegation and into the mid-table struggle.
