Pole position: Leeds leading race to sign £20m+ attacker who Chelsea wanted; he has no weak foot

According to reports, Leeds United is in the lead to recruit an attacker that Chelsea sought last year and costs more than £20 million.

Leeds on the search for attacking additions in Premier League

After being promoted to the Premier League, the 49ers promised a busy market, but the Whites have yet to complete their first acquisition of the summer transfer season.

Chairman Paraag Marathe stated that the team would “spend to be competitive in the Premier League” following their Championship title victory.

Manor Solomon Tottenham Loan

“Together we are going to build the best squad we can, with every penny we are allowed to spend to be competitive in the Premier League. We are going to attack the transfer market and it’s something I’m really excited about

Before the 2025–2026 season begins, Daniel Farke and the staff at Elland Road have a lot of work ahead of them, and Yorkshire needs attacking additions.

While winger Manor Solomon’s definitive return from Tottenham is still uncertain, Emiliano Buendia, Gus Hamer, and Gabriel Sara have all been linked to transfers to Leeds in recent weeks, indicating a need for a new number 10.

There are rumors that a new center-forward is on the way because Leeds has expressed reluctance to sign Championship Golden Boot winner Joel Piroe and seasoned Patrick Bamford as strikers.

Callum Wilson and Jamie Vardy, two forwards with Premier League experience, have been suggested as targets, and Leeds has released an update regarding another attacking signing.

Leeds in pole position to sign £20m+ Christantus Uche

MOT Leeds News reports that SER writer Jose David Palacio claims Leeds is in the driver’s seat to sign Christantus Uche, an attacker for Getafe.

Christantus Uche

Uche, who has a £21 million release clause in his current deal, is wanting to leave his current employers, and Brentford is at the top of the list in addition to the Whites.

Although his primary position is attacking midfield, the Nigerian international can also play slightly further forward as a second striker or drop deeper as a central midfielder. Chelsea contacted Uche last year about a deal, and the 22-year-old has been attracting attention for the past 12 months, with a career-high €8 million Transfermarkt valuation.

As can be seen, Uche, who does not have a weak foot, has had a meteoric rise in recent years, having begun playing amateur football at the age of 19, but a transfer to the Premier League with Leeds appears to be on the cards.
