Flop Saints manager could somehow manage a Champions League club next season

Flop Saints manager could somehow manage a Champions League club next season.

Atalanta may consider hiring former Southampton manager Ivan Juric to replace legendary coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 2024/25 season officially ended with the UCL Final, where PSG won their first title. Despite the lack of winners in the Europa League, most Southampton fans would have watched the epic match.

However, Southampton is once again a long way from the Champions League. The billionaire Alalshikh rumours are unlikely to come true soon.

While all current Saints players are expected to miss the upcoming UCL season, one of the club’s former staff members may not.

In an unexpected turn of events, ex-Saints manager Ivan Juric will be able to lead Atalanta in the Champions League next season.

According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via Sport Witness), Atlanta is considering Juric as a replacement for legendary manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who left the club this summer. While Thiago Motta is vying for the position, Juric’s hopes for a return to Italy aren’t dead.

Ex-manager Ivan Juric’s links to Atalanta will surprise all Saints fans.

Honestly, despite Juric’s recent track record, this transfer interest will undoubtedly surprise Saints fans, but it may be far less appealing to Serie A followers.

Despite having the worst records in the Premier League, Juric’s previous stints at Hellas Verona and Torino have helped maintain his reputation in Serie A. Despite being fired from Roma this season, Juric remains a strong contender for a top role in Italy.

Still, his potential move to a Champions League club will always seem unfair to Saints fans. Despite Southampton’s improved performance, his predecessor, Russell Martin, is reportedly close to joining Rangers.

But again, the 2024/25 season is over and the Saints will want to move ahead of this forgetful chapter. Similarly, the supporters mustn’t keep any hard feelings for Ivan Juric, who too, is tipped for a new managerial stin.
