The head coach, 43, signs a contract that will keep him at SE16 for the foreseeable future.
With Millwall
winning their final five home games of the season and pushing them to the brink of the Sky Bet Championship top six, Neil, who joined the team in December 2024, supervised The Lions‘ ascent up the table in the second half of 2024–2025.
The Scot has also managed the growth of players like Mihailo Ivanovic, who scored nine goals after joining the team, and Ra’ees Bangura-Williams, who scored a goal to commemorate his First Team debut in the Emirates FA Cup.

“I’m delighted and incredibly proud to sign this new contract,” the head coach of the Lions said. “I’ve said it many times: this club is special. It’s only when you truly experience the work going on behind the scenes, speak with the fans, and work alongside the players and staff day in and day out that you realize just how unique it is.”
“Since my first day, the commitment and togetherness I’ve seen from everyone at the club – players, staff, and fans – has been really special. That unity has helped us build strong foundations for the seasons ahead, and to be a part of that journey is incredibly exciting.”
“We all had some special times together in the second half of the season, and that just inspires us to keep going and keep aiming for achievement.” “Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to Steve Gallen, the director of football, and James Berylson, the chairman, for their ongoing support.” Millwall chairman, James Berylson, said: “This new contract reflects our confidence in the direction we’re heading under Alex. The progress we’ve made in the short amount of time since his arrival has been incredibly fantastic and bodes well for our long-term aspirations.
“With Alex as Head Coach, we have a clear idea of what we hope to accomplish, and he has proven to have the skills we knew he possessed when we recruited him:
strong leadership and instilling a genuine feeling of belief in the team and staff to realize our goals of taking this club to the next level. “Being a Millwall fan is exciting right now, and I know everyone is just as excited as I am to start the 2025–2026 season.” “We’re really happy to announce this news,” added Steve Gallen, Millwall’s director of football.
“Alex has had a huge influence since coming in December, and we’re thrilled with the advancements made under his direction. We had a thrilling second half of the season, fighting for the Play-Offs until the very last day, with excellent support from his coaching staff.
Alex has demonstrated his dedication to recognizing talent by giving players First Team opportunity based on their training results, which has resulted in some very unforgettable on-field moments.
“It is essential that the club as a whole has a common goal, and we have that alignment with Alex leading us for the foreseeable future.”
Neil will return to his backroom crew and team on Thursday, June 26, the opening day of 2025–2026 preseason training. Well done, Alex!
