The city sign “inspired” Wright, and Alexander proclaims him as the best fit.

Bradford City has announced the permanent signing of Joe Wright from Kilmarnock on a two-year deal.

The defender comes from Scotland to BD8 with crucial Sky Bet League One experience, having played nearly 100 games with Doncaster Rovers in the third division.

Last season, the towering centre defender made 36 appearances across all competitions for Killie, including Europa League and Conference League qualifiers.

Following the 2024/25 season, Wright was voted Kilmarnock’s Player of the Year, having scored two goals and assisted twice.

Wright stated after signing his contract, “I had a talk with Graham Alexander and Chris Lucketti, but they did not need to pitch the club to me; I was simply delighted to come here.

“Seeing those scenes on the final day and getting the promotion was a real draw for me to join the club.”

City manager Alexander continued: “After watching Joe play, meeting him, and speaking with a few individuals, we believe he fits the characteristics of the player and person we want to bring in.

“He’s a superb defender with a good understanding of the level. “We are all looking forward to working with him.”

Wright will be sponsored by The Trusted Therapist, and the move is subject to EFL and international clearance.
