Boro are looking for a new manager, having decided to cut ways with Michael Carrick.
The competition to succeed Michael Carrick as Middlesbrough manager is heating up, with a solid shortlist of candidates vying for the position. Boro are eager to move fast following their decision to part ways with the former Manchester United star, with the players returning for training at the end of the month.
Following initial conjecture, a new favourite has arisen in the bookies’ odds, with some unexpected names associated with the Boro post. Former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is the new favourite at 6/4, according to the latest odds from BetVictor, which provides the latest Football Betting.

Edwards led the Hatters to the Premier League in 2023, but despite their best efforts, they fell back to the Championship. However, the Kenilworth Road club failed to replicate their prior form in the 2024-25 season, and he left Luton early this year, with Town getting relegated.
He has surpassed early leader Steve Cooper in the rankings, with the former Nottingham Forest and Leicester manager now second favourite at 5/2, slightly ahead of Sean Dyche, who previously managed Burnley and Everton. Both have been out of management since losing their Premier League spots last season.
Sweden’s Jon Dahl Tomasson, a former Newcastle and AC Milan striker with Championship experience with Blackburn, is listed at 4/1, while Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is priced at 5/1.
Roger Schmidt, the former PSV and Benfica manager, is a surprising 8/1 bet, while Brian Priske, the former Feyenoord manager, is rated at 12/1.
