Middlesbrough new manager: Mousinho now level with Rooney in running.

This season, Portsmouth was expertly guided to safety by John Mousinho.
Despite having one of the lowest budgets in the competition, the youthful manager guided Pompey to a 16th-place finish in the Championship.
It was a fantastic way to build on his previous season’s accomplishment of capturing the League One title.
Other Championship teams have taken notice of Mousinho’s remarkable achievements, though, and there is conjecture that he may depart Fratton Park in search of a larger team with greater aspirations.
In fact, because Middlesbrough is currently looking for a new manager, similar rumours have reappeared.
Rooney and Mousinho are vying to take Carrick’s place at Middlesbrough.
Following Middlesbrough’s dismissal of manager Michael Carrick earlier this week, Mousinho has once again emerged as the bookmakers’ favourite to fill the vacancy.

He is a bit of an outsider to take over at Teesside, though, in contrast to other Championship openings that have arisen this summer.
Right now, the odds are 33/1 for Mousinho to succeed Wayne Rooney as the new manager of Boro [Sky Bet, 6 June].
Former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards and former Leicester City manager Steve Cooper are the clear favourites for the position.
Former Pompey and Middlesbrough footballer Gary O’Neil was a clear favourite to take over as Middlesbrough’s manager. But suddenly, his odds have dropped to 12/1.

Mousinho must be held by Portsmouth at all costs.
For Pompey supporters this summer, it must resemble one of those haunted houses at the fairground.
Another piece of news appears to frighten them just when it appears that everything has settled down.
Middlesbrough is being accused of snatching their manager this time. Previously, it was West Brom, Watford, and Bristol City.
Fortunately, this time it’s not as frightening. Portsmouth supporters may relax if Mousinho has the same chance as Wayne Rooney of being hired by Boro.
After all, Rooney was a complete failure at Plymouth Argyle this season. If he were ever offered another second-tier position, he would do well.

Notably, no team has yet to formally express interest in Mousinho’s services. He has stated that he is content at Fratton Park, and experts have suggested Portsmouth is Mousinho’s ideal club.
Nevertheless, the board and Michael Eisner need to do every effort to retain their talented young manager at Fratton Park.
