Leeds United dealt transfer blow as Stoke City near ‘two-year deal’ for England youth international

As Stoke City approaches a “two-year deal” for an England youth international, Leeds United struck a blow to the transfer.

Tezgel is a talented young forward who has earned England’s under-16, under-17, and under-20 caps.

But with Stoke, he hasn’t had many first-team opportunities, and his future with the Potters hasn’t been assured.

The out-of-contract Tezgel was reportedly presented with a high offer by Leeds, but it now looks like he will remain at his current club.

Mike McGrath of The Telegraph claims that he is agreeing to a two-year contract before being loaned out for the upcoming campaign.

He scored three goals in 17 games for Milton Keynes Dons during the 2023–24 season, when Stoke last shipped him out.

Tezgel, who has obviously outgrown under-21 football, might benefit greatly from spending the entire season on loan.

He participated in Stoke’s main lineup and scored 11 goals in five Premier League 2 games last season.

He has made 23 senior Potters appearances overall and contributed two goals.

Since Leeds’ return to the Premier League was announced, they have been connected to a variety of attacking players.

Joel Piroe was the Whites’ line leader the previous season, but with Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford rumored to be leaving, he may not have much competition.

Following their respective loan stints at Preston North End and Hull City, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood have also been linked to moves outside of West Yorkshire.

Davie Selke of Hamburg is one of those who has been suggested as a possible choice after his successful season with Hamburg in Germany’s second division.

The future of Callum Wilson, an England-capped shooter, at Newcastle United is uncertain, but he has also been connected.

The Magpies have kept the door open for him to continue even though his contract expires at the end of this month.
