Houghton rejects new Argyle deal to join Stevenage.

Jordan Houghton, a Plymouth Argyle midfielder, has passed down the opportunity to continue at Home Park and instead joined fellow League One club Stevenage. The Pilgrims stated that they had offered the 29-year-old the opportunity to prolong his stay at the club, but he “opted to pursue another challenge”. Houghton made 184 appearances for Plymouth during two periods, scoring two goals and assisting ten times. This season, he appeared in 32 games in all competitions as Plymouth were relegated to League One. In the two previous seasons, he was a fixture on the team sheet as the Pilgrims achieved promotion to the Championship. Houghton came through Chelsea’s academy and had spells at Doncaster Rovers and MK Dons before making a transfer to Devon in 2021.
