Last season, the Robins made the play-offs but were eliminated in the semi-finals by Sheffield United after two legs. They now have the opportunity to make some fresh signings this summer. Over the next few months, players may also leave through the exit door.

Bristol City urged to replace Liam Manning with Richie Wellens

Don Goodman, a commentator, has pushed Bristol City to bid for Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens. The Robins will ponder their next step. The 45-year-old has piqued the interest of League One clubs, and the O’s may struggle to retain him in the future. According to Football League World, Goodman believes Richie has earned the right to be linked and considered by Bristol City, as he is coming off possibly his finest season as a manager and stroke head coach. Leyton Orient reached the play-off final and came out the wrong side of a very very tight game with massive fine margins but he put together a really good team.

“Only Birmingham City scored more goals than them, so front-footed, solid defensively and 78 points for Leyton Orient in League One was an excellent achievement so I’m not surprised at all that he would be linked. I think he’s earned that right, his career seems to be going from strength to strength.”

Will Bristol City move for Richie Wellens?

It’s unclear at this point whether Wellens is on Bristol City’s radar. They have been associated with a number of distinct names in recent days. The club’s hierarchy will carefully consider potential candidates as they hunt for the best fit. Wellens has played as a midfielder for Manchester United, Blackpool, and Leicester City, among others. He made 698 appearances in all competitions, scoring 48 goals. After a final tenure at Macclesfield Town in 2017, the Mancunian retired from football.

Potentially we’re going to lose six or seven now. I am gutted for the supporters but I’m also heartbroken this is the last time I will ever manage this set of players as a collective.”
