Kieran Tierney, who is set to join Celtic, has withdrawn from Steve Clarke’s Scotland team owing to an injury.
Tierney played in Scotland’s humbling friendly defeat to Iceland on Friday night, and the former Arsenal player appeared ‘rusty’ ahead of the new season.
The 3-1 setback took place in front of a half-empty Hampden, but Celtic fans will be most concerned about Tierney’s injury.

Due to re-join Brendan Rodgers in the coming weeks, the Celtic manager will be eager to bring Tierney back under his wing, especially after learning the true reason for the Scotland left-back’s injury this week.
Celtic-bound Kieran Tierney brought ‘small difficulties’ into the Scotland camp.
Celtic-daft Tierney is known for being continually wounded. However, the former Emirates player has nonetheless appeared in several games for Arsenal throughout his six-year tenure.
However, it looks that Tierney’s present injury is not his fault, as Scotland manager Steve Clarke delivered the news that every Celtic fan dreaded. Clarke told PLZ Soccer [1m 15s]: “Scott [McTominay] and Kieran both came into training with some minor concerns from the season.
“So I believe if we had a longer turnaround between the games, they might have had a chance, but listen, it’s the end of the season for those two.”
“The most important thing is to have a good rest over the summer and come back flying in the autumn.”

Thankfully, it does not appear to be a significant illness, and perhaps the recovery will be swift, but this is not an update Celtic and Rodgers need as the season comes to a close.
When are Celtic likely to announce the signing of Kieran Tierney?
Celtic has a big summer ahead of them. Brendan Rodgers has a busy schedule ahead of him, with friendlies against Cork, Newcastle, and the Como Cup in July.
But what about Tierney’s announcement? When can fans expect it now that Arsenal fans have said goodbye to him? The likely date will be July 1st.
Tierney’s contract with Arsenal does not expire until June 30th, thus Celtic are likely to announce his signing as soon as possible.
