Watford’s Edo Kayembe makes sub appearance in DR Congo win.

Edo Kayembe came on as a second-half replacement to help DR Congo defeat Madagascar 3-1 in an international friendly yesterday. The Watford midfielder, who was earning his 21st cap, replaced Dinamo Zagreb’s Nathanael Mbuku with 25 minutes of normal time remaining, just before Braga’s Simon Banza scored Congo’s second and third goals. Banza, who was on loan at Trabzonspor last season, gave Congo the lead in the 27th minute of the friendly at Stade de la Source in Orleans, France, and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa doubled it six minutes later.
Madagascar’s consolation came in the second minute of injury time from El Hadary Raheriniaina. Kayembe had already played the entire 90 minutes as Congo defeated Mali 1-0 in another friendly last Thursday, thanks to a goal from FC Augsburg’s Samuel Essende. Mamadou Doumbia, a young Hornets striker, was an unused substitute in Mali’s only game during the international break.
