Sunderland launch £17m transfer bid for Leeds United-linked attacker

Sunderland are once again connected with a move for Vladyslav Vanat.

Sunderland are poised to make a hefty bid for Ukrainian forward Vladyslav Vanat this summer, according to reports.

The Dynamo Kyiv forward was first connected with the Black Cats last month, with speculation that Regis Le Bris’ side would only pursue their interest if they won the Championship play-off final against Sheffield United.

After winning that important match at Wembley, fresh reports imply that a sizable offer could be made in an attempt to bring Vanat to the Stadium of Light in the coming months.

What is being mentioned about Sunderland’s interest in Vladyslav Vanat?

According to TaToTake, Sunderland is contemplating a proposal of up to £16.8 million for Vanat, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and was the top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League.

The 23-year-old is mostly a centre-forward but can also play on the left flank. He is now on international duty with Ukraine’s U21s ahead of the forthcoming European Championships, so any offer for him is likely to come after the event.

What have prior reports said about Sunderland’s interest in Vladyslav Vanat?

Last month, journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky revealed Sunderland’s apparent interest in Vanat, alleging that Regis Le Bris’ team had included the forward on a list of potential targets for the summer window.

To that reason, Sunderland isn’t the only team reportedly keeping an eye on Vanat. Indeed, another recent report from Ukraine said that both Leeds United and Fulham are interested in the player, with speculation that he would prefer a move to the Premier League in the coming months – but only after competing in Dynamo Kyiv’s Champions League qualifiers.

Trabzonspor of Turkey has also been mentioned as an admirer, but Dynamo president Ihor Surkis has sought to dispel speculations that his club has received a proposal for Vanat at this time. He stated: “All of them are still ‘false news’ with no confirmation. The club did not receive anything. We will evaluate any proposals that are submitted. Transfers are conducted in silence.”
