Update emerges on rumoured Preston North End interest in Plymouth Argyle star News.

The full-back slot was always going to be a vital position for Preston North End to focus on, with Player of the Year winner Kaine Kesler-Hayden returning to his parent club Aston Villa after an impressive loan spell.

After the contract renewal of Robbie Brady and the arrivals of Jordan Thompson and Daniel Iversen, most North End fans will now be looking at Peter Ridsdale and the management team to see when reinforcements will be added in the attacking areas.

A striker is a must, with Emil Riis heading for pastures new. Milutin Osmajic and Will Keane are the only recognisable strikers at PNE and with a total of 12 league goals between them during the 2024/2025 season, it is a significant area Preston will look to strengthen in.

European markets to explore again

Only time will tell when Preston North End will make their move for a new striker and at what cost. But, with one of the Championship’s smaller budgets, this window could see the club venture across the continent into the Scandinavian market again.

Those divisions have provided attacking talent and strength in depth with the likes of Mads Frokjaer-Jensen and Stefan Thordarson enjoying successful spells at the club, both signing for less than £2m.

Even though the summer transfer window doesn’t close until September 1st, PNE will want to continue their fast start to recruitment by signing a minimum of one first-team quality striker to improve on their challenging 2024/2025 season.
