Viktor Gyokeres furious over broken transfer promise amid Man Utd and Arsenal interest

Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be on the move this summer, but he’s left seething with his club for wanting more for him than they agreed.

Viktor Gyokeres is furious with Sporting Lisbon after they requested more for him than they promised, as he seeks to leave the Portuguese club.

The Swede recently helped them win the domestic double and, after deciding to stay last summer, agreed with them that he could go for substantially less than his release clause. While they have honoured that, Sporting has still asked for more than he anticipated.

The Lisbon club had demanded £67 million for him. Previously, they agreed to demand £50 million plus £8.4 million in add-ons this summer, amounting to about £10 million more, according to Record. It has left Gyokeres angry, and he has removed.

The player has already turned down a move to Saudi Arabia when Al-Hilal rejected a £55 million deal. He is the latest striker to turn down the Middle East league, with Manchester United and Arsenal still interested.

Victor Osimhen, a highly sought-after striker in Europe, was offered a move to the Saudi Pro League by Al-Hilal, who recently hired former Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi. However, the Nigerian turned down the offer due to his loan stint at Galatasaray with his parent club, Napo.

The Swede is one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers, having scored 50 goals for Sporting Lisbon. He’s been linked with a move to the Premier League, but he was recently offered the opportunity to make fortunes by joining the Saudi Pro League. Al-Hilal, who recently appointed former Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi as manager, had been hunting for Victor Osimhen.

However, the Nigerian rejected them following his loan spell at Galatasaray, with his parent club, Napoli, looking to cash in. The Saudis then turned their focus to Gyokeres, but the Swedish frontman turned down a generous offer as well. He might have made £30 million each year, but he prefers to compete in Europe, according to L’Equipe.

It means Arsenal and United can pursue a deal for the 27-year-old, who previously played for Coventry City before being converted by Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese manager is looking to strengthen his attacking line and may pursue a reunion with Gyokeres. Sporting are said to be willing to sell him for roughly £60 million, although aiming for more this season, and the player himself is open to the transfer despite the fact that they do not play Champions League football. Arsenal has been mentioned as his alternative possibility.

It is well established that the Gunners seek a No.9, but their preferred candidate appears to be Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig, with talks ongoing about a transfer for the Slovenian. Gyokeres himself has been evasive about his own future.
