Sunderland emerge ahead of Everton as favourites for £17m transfer deal – reports

Sunderland continue to be linked with a swoop for Vladyslav Vanat.

Sunderland are the “main favourites” to recruit Ukrainian forward Vladyslav Vanat, according to sources. The Dynamo Kyiv striker has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light in recent weeks, following a highly successful season in his home country, where he finished as the top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Despite a surge in interest in the youngster from a number of English clubs, it is believed that Sunderland are presently dominating the fight for his signature.

What has been said about Sunderland’s interest in Vladyslav Vanat

According to TaToTake, Sunderland are considering a deal of up to £16.8 million for Vanat, who plays mostly as a centre-forward and scored 21 goals in all competitions last season. The 23-year-old is now abroad on international duty with Ukraine’s U21s ahead of the forthcoming European Championships, so any offers for the player are likely to arrive after the competition.

Ukrainian outlet However, Champion goes on to report that the Black Cats had beaten out Leeds United, Everton, and Fulham in the race for Vanat’s services. Regis Le Bris’ team is said to be the “main favourites” for the attacker, although it is uncertain whether they will be willing to pay Dynamo’s asking price.

Trabzonspor of Turkey has recently been mentioned as a potential suitor, although Dynamo president Ihor Surkis has moved to dispel rumors that his club has received any proposals for Vanat. He stated: “All of them are still ‘false news’ with no confirmation. The club did not receive anything. We will evaluate any proposals that are submitted. Transfers are conducted in silence.”

What has been said about Sunderland’s summer transfer plans?

During an interview last week, Sunderland’s sporting director Kristjaan Speakman explained the club’s objectives for the summer transfer window: “We’re always trying to strike the proper balance between being prepared for whatever level you’re in, and we’ve attempted to do so. “Naturally, as a play-off winning team, you’re behind other clubs, but we’re catching up quickly. We’re striving to improve and construct a team capable of remaining in the Premier League; I believe the goal is quite clear.

“Everyone will refer to statistics about how difficult it is to stay in the Premier League, and we are well aware of this; we are not foolish. Our plan for getting into the Premier League, as well as the answers we required to stay there, will be different. That is the job we are currently performing, but we will eventually keep to our ideals. We need a club that the community and city can be proud of; we have it in our current team, and we must have it in the Premier League.

“When we first arrived at the club, we had a multi-year plan for returning to the Premier League, and it’s important to keep that mindset going. We’ll make decisions that are in the best interests of the club in order to maintain our Premier League position while also ensuring that the club’s long-term viability is not compromised. I believe we’ve seen at Sunderland that if those things are ignored, the long-term consequences may be disastrous. I don’t believe it’s necessarily anything different in terms of our values, but there are certainly significant decisions coming up surrounding making sure we have a group capable of fulfilling our goal of remaining up.
