Dara O’Shea gives Leeds United massive reason to pull out of potential deal for £15m Ipswich Town star

Dara O’Shea gives Leeds United massive reason to pull out of potential deal for £15m Ipswich Town star.

Dara O’Shea is one of the centre-backs being pursued by Leeds United ahead of the new season, with manager Daniel Farke in desperate need of defensive reinforcements.

Leeds United are expected to sign players from last season’s relegated Premier League teams, including Ipswich Town, Southampton, and Leicester City. Leeds United has already been linked with a number of Southampton players this summer, including Aaron Ramsdale, Kyle Walker-Peters, and now Shea Charles, who is emerging as a 49ers target. Dara O’Shea is also reportedly a transfer target for Leeds United. The Whites are looking precariously short on centre-back alternatives right now, especially after Max Wober was told to quit Leeds United this summer.

Last summer, Ipswich Town bought Republic of Ireland international O’Shea, 26, from Burnley for £15 million. He went on to make 35 Premier League appearances for Kieran McKenna’s side last season.

Dara O’Shea has a stinker during Luxembourg 0-0 Ireland

Ireland faced Luxembourg in an international friendly on Tuesday night, and they, like England, failed to impress. Despite not being as popular as the Three Lions, Ireland’s 0-0 tie against Luxembourg has received widespread criticism. Similarly, Ipswich Town fans are anxious about O’Shea’s links to Leeds United, after he stated that he is not moving anywhere ‘at the moment’. And O’Shea was not at his best. According to Irish outlet Balls, O’Shea delivered a 5/10 performance just a few days after joining Elland Road. ie, who wrote about the Dublin-born centre-back: “Dara O’Shea got tugged out of position at the back on a handful of occasions in the first half. leading to one or two dangerous Luxembourgish attacks.

“He almost set up Collins for the Irish opener near the end of the first period. The Dubliner made some sloppy passes at times, one of which nearly resulted in a Luxembourg goal.”

Forget Dara O’Shea, Leeds United want one centre-back right now

The heart of defence needs some extra quality and extra depth if Leeds are to stand a chance of Premier League survival next season, and it seems as though Farke has really honed in on one man ahead of the new season.

According to recent reports, Leeds United are interested in signing Jaka Bijol from Serie A club Udinese for £17 million, with speculation growing about the Slovenian international’s prospective move to Elland Road. Although it is known that Leeds United and Udinese are still at odds over Bijol, it appears that this deal may take some time to complete, keeping O’Shea in Farke’s sights for the foreseeable future. However, more performances like his on Tuesday night would not help his chances of moving to West Yorkshire.
