Former coworkers have described Ryan Mason, the new manager of West Brom, as intelligent, analytical, and psychologically tough.

Yaser Kasim, a former Tottenham Hotspur academy star, spent seven years advancing through the youth levels with Mason after they first met at the age of eleven.

The two had a long history together, and Mason’s strong will was apparent from a young age.

“He was one of the best technical players in the team and we had a phenomenal age group,” said Kasim.

Because you never know when you might need him, he was one of those men you always wanted to start and complete a game.

“In terms of his mindset, he would never give up, but he was also very smart and analytical.”

While Mason ultimately made it to the first team, Kasim would eventually start a career at Swindon Town.
