Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has received a significant boost regarding Anthony Elanga’s future at the club.
The Swedish winger enjoyed a standout campaign in 2024/25, registering six goals and 12 assists across 43 appearances as Forest secured European qualification for the first time in over two decades.
While Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White were often the focal points of media coverage, Elanga’s performances drew attention from several clubs, with Football Insider reporting ongoing interest from Newcastle United.
Elanga has spent two seasons at the City Ground, contributing a total of 11 goals and 21 assists. His consistent displays have earned him admiration from Forest supporters, and his regular inclusion in the squad — featuring in all 38 Premier League matches this season — underscores his value to Espirito Santo’s plans.
Forest Face Potential Summer Departures After Missing Champions League Qualification
Despite a successful season that saw the team finish seventh in the league and reach the FA Cup semi-finals, Forest’s failure to secure Champions League football could result in the departure of some key players. Morgan Gibbs-White has already been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Elanga may also be tempted by the prospect of European football at a higher level, with Newcastle United reportedly among those interested. However, Forest are expected to resist multiple high-profile exits as they look to build on their progress.
Newcastle Shift Focus to Jack Grealish in Summer Transfer Market
Speculation has intensified over Jack Grealish’s future at Manchester City following a season in which he made just seven league starts and scored only once. While Everton have also been linked with the England international, Football Insider reports that Newcastle and Everton are the current frontrunners for a potential deal.
Grealish’s exclusion from City’s Club World Cup squad has further fueled rumours, with sources suggesting a loan — possibly involving City covering a portion of his £300,000-a-week wages — is the most probable outcome.
Should Newcastle succeed in bringing in Grealish, it would likely impact their pursuit of other wide players, including Elanga. With Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, and Jacob Murphy already competing for positions on the flanks, Grealish’s arrival would make it increasingly difficult to justify a move for Elanga.

While Gibbs-White’s departure seems increasingly likely, retaining key figures such as Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi remains a top priority for Forest. Elanga has become a central figure in the club’s tactical setup, and ensuring his stay could be pivotal to maintaining momentum heading into the 2025/26 season.
