Vitor Pereira has just given £14m Wolves player an ultimatum, ‘it’s better for him to go:

As the Wolves undertake structural changes in the recruitment department, a slew of players are leaving.
Matt Hobbs, Wolves’ sporting director, has left the club, and Domenico Teti, who is set to become technical director, is reportedly taking his position. Teti worked alongside Vitor Pereira at Al Shabab, and this choice gave the Portuguese manager more control over transfers. Wolves fans are ecstatic that structural changes at Molineux have allowed super agency Jorge Mendes to get involved in deals.
Mendes has the contacts in world football to bring some serious gems to the club, but first, the focus is on selling players who aren’t a part of the long-term project.

Vitor Pereira has told Hwang Hee-chan to leave Wolves on one condition
Matheus Cunha left Wolves for Manchester United, and Rayan Ait-Nouri recently joined Manchester City.
The Old Gold have also said goodbye to first-team players Craig Dawson and Pablo Sarabia, whose contracts expired. The busy summer of exits will not end there, as forward Hwang Hee-chan is one of the players Pereira is looking to offload. Hwang, who cost Wolves £14 million in 2022, has only made four starts under the Portuguese manager, scoring only twice in 2024/25 following 13 goals the previous season.
| Hwang in 23/24 | Hwang in 24/25 |
| Appearances – 31 | Appearances – 25 |
| Minutes played – 2249 | Minutes played – 868 |
| Goals – 13 | Goals – 2 |
| Assists – 3 | Assists – 1 |
The South Korean appears to be out of the manager’s plans, and Pereira has now confessed that ‘it’s better for him [Hwang] to depart’ because he cannot guarantee him a spot in his starting lineup. “He likes to feel important, and he enjoys being part of the group, but he also enjoys playing. He wants to play. “He wants to play in the first XI,” Pereira told E&S. “I can’t offer him the first XI. I can only promise that I will help him compete for his position. If he believes it is preferable for him to attend another club, this is another option. I must have the same discourse with Hee-chan as I do with the others.
“If they want to compete or go to play, I can’t guarantee they’ll be in the first XI. I cannot. This is something you should deserve. You must compete for the post. “I do not give gifts.”
Why Hwang doesn’t fit into Pereira’s plans
Hwang was ‘upset’ that the 2024/25 season did not go as expected, and his career has stalled since Gary O’Neil left Molineux in December. As evidenced by Pereira’s decision to ban Dawson from first-team training earlier this year, the 56-year-old is not hesitant to make contentious decisions. That is why he has effectively handed Hwang an ultimatum. He may either stay and fight for his spot on the team, which is not guaranteed, or seek regular minutes elsewhere. The 29-year-old attacker has outstanding finishing abilities. However, with Jorgen Strand Larsen leading the line and Hwang lacking the technical skills required to play as a number 10, he has no place in the system.
The South Korean would only benefit if Pereira incorporated two inside forwards, with his greatest strength running into channels and counter-attacking against teams.
