Bolton Wanderers are preparing to sign the stopper on a temporary basis. BWFC is prepared for another year in League One.
Sharman-Lowe, 22, spent last season with Doncaster Rovers, when he helped the club achieve promotion from League Two under Grant McCann. He made 51 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire club, 46 of which were in the league.
In the most recent update on his future, writer O’Rourke revealed on X that he is likely to join the Trotters. They missed out on the playoffs last season.
McCann praised Sharman-Lowe back in April, telling the Yorkshire Post:
“Teddy has been exceptional and got better every game and you have to remember this is his first loan in the EFL and he has produced two magnificent saves.
“But I felt the energy in the stadium that it was going to be our day. I couldn’t be more happy for teddy as he’s a young lad. He’s made one or two mistakes this year and we didn’t bring him out and replace him as we trusted his ability. He’s had a tremendous season and will benefit so much.”
Bolton Wanderers to loan in Teddy Sharman-Lowe
Following Nathan Baxter’s departure, Bolton Wanderers now need to fill a goalkeeping vacancy. He has now joined Watford in the Championship.
Sharman-Lowe will compete for the number one place in the upcoming campaign. The England youth international will want to demonstrate his abilities at the third tier.
The Leicester native last played for Leicester City in 2017. He then joined Chelsea and has since progressed through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.
He has yet to play for the Premier League’s top club. However, he received experience on loan at Burton Albion, Bromley, and Doncaster Rovers.
What now for Bolton Wanderers?
Bolton Wanderers will push for promotion next season. After sacking Ian Evatt, BWFC hired former Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City manager Steven Schumacher early this year.
The Trotters have already entered the transfer market, signing striker Sam Dalby from Wrexham and midfielder Xavier Simons from Hull City, respectively. They are currently looking for additional new faces in the coming weeks.
Sharman-Lowe would be an astute signing for the North West club. He performed well for Doncaster Rovers and appears to be a competent and trustworthy goalkeeper.
