Joe Harper: How Bojan Miovski can boost Aberdeen’s summer transfer business

Joe Harper: How Bojan Miovski can boost Aberdeen’s summer transfer business.

Aberdeen great Joe Harper talks how former Pittodrie goal hero Bojan Miovski could help manager Jimmy Thelin’s summer transfer plans. Bojan Miovski, a former Aberdeen striker, has boosted manager Jimmy Thelin’s summer signing intentions with recent compliments about the club.

Miovski, a goal hero, joined Girona in the Spanish La Liga for £6.8 million last summer from Aberdeen. In a recent interview, the North Macedonia international lavished admiration on Aberdeen and its supporters. Miovski expressed his deep affection for Aberdeen and the Red Army.

He also revealed he is open to returning to Pittodrie in the future and hopes to win a trophy with Aberdeen. Miovski may have had a disappointing first season at Girona, but a transfer for the striker this summer would be out of Aberdeen’s budget.

The striker, who is under contract with the La Liga club for another three years, has also stated that he is determined to make an impact with Girona next season if given the opportunity. So the prospects of Aberdeen supporters seeing Miovski return to Pittodrie this year are slim.

Miovski example of career platform

However, his comments will undoubtedly aid Aberdeen manager Thelin’s efforts to make additional recruits during the summer transfer season. Before signing a contract, transfer targets want to learn everything they can about the club, its environment, and its fans. Miovski has effectively communicated what they need to know by highlighting his affection for Aberdeen and how he felt welcomed and respected by the club and fans. Reading a La Liga player and established international rave about Aberdeen will almost certainly sway a transfer target’s decision to join. Miovski also provides a great illustration of transfer targets using the platform Aberdeen offer to boost their career.

Aberdeen purchased Miovski for £535,000 from MTK Budapest in the summer of 2022, following the club’s relegation to Hungary’s second tier. Two years later, he was in the Spanish top division, having signed for a club that had already qualified for the Champions League. Miovski scored 44 goals in two seasons with the Dons, and his latest favourable words continue to benefit Aberdeen.

Aberdeen manager Thelin has wasted no time in improving his team, having already signed four players. The club is on a high following their stunning Scottish Cup victory at Hampden.

No let up from Aberdeen boss Thelin

However, the Dons must not rest on their laurels and believe the task is complete because cutlery is in the trophy case at Pittodrie. Winning the Scottish Cup will hopefully mark the beginning of Thelin’s glorious years. It is encouraging to see Thelin being so proactive in obtaining deals ahead of a season in which the Dons will mix European group stage participation with domestic duties. That will necessitate a well-balanced and talented roster. Thelin has already signed four players, including striker Kusini Yengi, left defender Emmanuel Gyamfi, winger Nicolas Milanovic, and goalkeeper Nick Suman.

There is still a lot of work to be done in the summer transfer window ahead of the new season. Miovski’s encouraging comments about Aberdeen can only aid Thelin and his recruitment team in convincing their signing targets to sign a contract.
