Chris Rigg will not go until interested teams come up with a large transfer fee. The 17-year-old Sunderland sensation has already sparked widespread interest, which is not surprising given his outstanding performances last season.
Sunderland’s sporting director, Kristjaan Speakman, and the club’s management have taken efforts to prevent Rigg from following Jobe Bellingham out the door.

The Black Cats have a lot of business to do this summer, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. And Sunderland has stated its position on Rigg.
According to TEAMTalk, the club has affixed a massive £35 million fee.
This comes after nine clubs expressed interest, including seven from the Premier League: West Ham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Crystal Palace, and Brighton.
The Bundesliga duo RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are all thought to be pursuing the kid. Leverkusen can offer Rigg Champions League football, while Leipzig is one of the finest teams in the world at nurturing young talent.
However, Rigg has already been informed that at such an early age, it is preferable for him to stay put and continue his development.
Sunderland appear to be the ideal club for Rigg to accomplish precisely that, as regular first-team football at the age of 17 is not guaranteed elsewhere.
Overall, Rigg appears to be in fantastic form on Wearside and is only going to improve as a player. Rigg signed his first professional contract with Sunderland last summer, with the term slated to expire in the summer of 2027.
Meanwhile, Sunderland is looking for host families that can provide a home away from home for the club’s young players, ages 15 to 21.
A host family would care for out-of-town players by providing a welcoming, safe, and comfortable atmosphere throughout the season. The duty entails more than just providing a room. It will have an impact on the players’ lives, life skills, and growth, and by collaborating with the club, it will help the player on their path to professional football.
According to a club statement, players would live with host families for approximately 44 weeks of the year, up to seven days a week, and host families would be expected to provide high-quality meals in accordance with the club’s nutritional guidelines and any cultural requirements, all while accommodating the player’s flexible schedule.
“Players would need their own bedrooms and homes, and access to transportation to the Academy of Light is preferred.
“This is a very fulfilling role, and host families will be compensated competitively. If you believe you can provide a home for a young player, please contact the club.
