With less than 48 hours till the transfer window opens, here are the most recent transfer speculations in Scottish football…

Celtic agree to sign ‘fearless winger’

Celtic are expected to make Nordsjaelland winger Benjamin Nygren their first new signing in the summer transfer season. The Parkhead club has already secured the return of former left-back Kieran Tierney, who has joined his boyhood club on a free transfer after his contract with Arsenal expired. Now, manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly closing close on the signing of Sweden international Nygren, having beaten off competition from clubs throughout Europe to reach an agreement on personal terms.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic are now in talks with Nordsjaelland about a transfer fee, with the Danes reportedly asking for roughly £2 million for a player whose contract expires in six months. Last season, Nygren scored 16 goals and added four assists to win a spot on the Superliga Team of the Year. He also recently made his international debut, scoring twice in three appearances.

His Swedish colleague, Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, has praised the player’s ability. “It was great to play with Benjamin,” Isak stated. “I thoroughly enjoyed it. He is clearly a fearless and confident player. Playing with a winger who can provide fantastic crosses will only help someone like me. I believe he performed admirably in the two games (against Hungary and Algeria), and it was a wonderful lift for him to be able to score as well.”

Rangers’ target defender According to reports, new Rangers coach Russell Martin has targeted Harry Darling, a former defender, as a signing target.

The centre-back, who played for Martin at Swansea City and MK Dons, is available on a free transfer this summer after turning down an offer to stay with the Swans after his contract expired.

According to the Rangers Review, the 25-year-old might be poised for a reunion with Martin at Ibrox, despite competing interest from clubs in the English Championship.

Martin said of Darling when he signed him for Swansea: “He’s very young and hungry, and he possesses all of the traits you need to play at the highest level, in my opinion, and it’s up to us to help him unlock those things. He has athleticism, mindset, technical skill, and, most importantly, he is a fantastic person.”
