Sam Field of QPR scores their 3rd goal & celebrates
Queens Park Rangers v Watford, EFL Sky Bet Championship, Football, MATRADE Loftus Road, London, UK - 01 Jan 2025
Sam Field signs new deal.
SAM Field has extended his stay with the club by signing a new contract on Friday (June 13th).
The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined QPR first on loan in February 2021, said: “I’m overjoyed. “The club has come to me, which I greatly appreciate. I place a high importance on that, as well as my presence here. It’s been fantastic for my progress, and I’m looking forward to returning it.” Field has made nearly 250 professional games since his Premier League debut for West Brom against Liverpool nine years ago, and he is eager to take on more responsibility as he looks to the future with Rangers. “I want to step into more of a leadership role, which I think I’m doing, and I’m enjoying that,” he told me.
“I enjoy trying to help. I’m now considered an elder player, which is still mentally challenging for me, but it’s wonderful to accept that responsibility and try to help other guys while remembering that it’s not just about me, but about everyone else. “If I can get a couple more percent out of everyone else, that helps me, that helps the team, it helps everyone.”
Field, who has made 179 appearances for QPR over the previous four and a half years, has developed a great bond with the club’s supporters, for which he is grateful. “I think they know what they get from me,” he told me. “It’s nice to have such a good connection, and it’s not just me, it’s everyone; we want that connection between all players and fans, and when it’s like that we get Loftus Road rocking, and then it’s horrible for teams to come and play against.” Reflecting on his improvement while he has been in west London, Field explained: “I think I’ve advanced a lot – I still have a hell of a lot to work on, I’m not going to deny that. but it excites me what I’ve done, and it excites me what I can hopefully go on to achieve.”
CEO Christian Nourry stated, “I am delighted that Sam has committed to the club as he enters a critical period in his career. “He is an ambitious man who is rapidly acquiring leadership qualities, which are critical for our team. “The versatility that he showed last campaign – sometimes in his previously more common #6 position, but increasingly as a #8 alongside Jonathan Varane and even against Oxford in the #10 – is a vital quality and demonstrated the range of his abilities in midfield.”
