As Doncaster Rovers, Port Vale, Bradford City, and AFC Wimbledon are ready to return to League One, pundit Don Goodman thinks they should learn from Stockport County.

Doncaster, Port Vale, Bradford, and Wimbledon will be preparing for life in League One and hope to avoid the same fate as Crawley Town, who won promotion the year before and were immediately relegated back to League Two.
There are many reasons for the quartet to be hopeful about their prospects for the upcoming season, though, as the three teams that were promoted with the Red Devils fared much better.
Mansfield Town finished in lower mid-table, Stockport County came in third, and Wrexham took second place, recording a historic third consecutive promotion.

“If they strengthen their squads enough this summer, Doncaster, Port Vale, Bradford, and Wimbledon shouldn’t be afraid of League One,
” Goodman said in an exclusive interview with Football League World. He cited Stockport as an example of how a club should build on promotion from League Two.
“It’s not for me to be giving advice to anybody, but I do feel that the gap between League Two and League One is arguably the smallest to bridge,” said Goodman.
“Teams from League Two have regularly moved into League One and performed admirably; Stockport County is a prime example of that.
“I don’t believe there should be many worries about League One.
“It depends on their goals, but when I consider those four, I believe that survival and consolidation must be the main priorities.
“In order to do that, it’s about recruiting better quality players, probably into the starting XI, rather than the squad.”
The finest opportunity to emulate Stockport County might be in Bradford City.
Doncaster, Port Vale, Bradford, and Wimbledon’s top focus, as stated by Goodman, will be to remain in League One for the upcoming campaign, although they might have more ambitious goals.
The Bantams will be expected to do the best of the four teams despite having been out of the third division for six years—longer than any of their colleagues promoted teams. Chairman Stefan Rupp stated that the club may be able to contend for the playoffs with the budget for the forthcoming season.
With Curtis Tilt, Joe Wright, Max Power, and Josh Neufville joining the team, Bradford has had a busy start to the summer. Although it will be difficult for them to match Stockport’s accomplishments from the previous year, it is evident that they are entering League One with high hopes.
