How much money QPR will earn from Sky Sports TV deal in 2025/26.

Queens Park Rangers will earn significantly from the EFL’s lucrative television pact with Sky Sports in the Championship next season.

QPR placed 15th last season and will receive their fair share of a five-year television agreement worth £935 million, a 50% increase over the previous arrangement. Unlike relegated Premier League clubs that receive parachute payments, QPR will use the conventional Championship television distribution scheme, putting them on the same financial footing as the majority of their second-tier competitors. The five-year pact provides stability for medium-term planning, with promotion to the Premier League being the ultimate financial prize.

The majority of QPR’s TV revenue next season will come from the previously announced agreement with Sky Sports, which is valid until 2028/2029 and guaranteed £895 million in rights payments. QPR will receive about £3m – £4m per year as part of this agreement, with additional earnings possible through facility fees ranging from £500k – £1.5m per match if their games are picked for live broadcast. International broadcast rights also add additional £1 to £2 million to the club’s annual revenue. The R’s will also get approximately £5 million in solidarity payments from the Premier League, with the EFL’s central income split bringing their total estimated television-related profits to around £11 million. This sum is comparable to many other teams in the league, which regularly make between £9.5 million and £12.5 million from television sources.

QPR set to begin a new era under Julien Stephan

QPR are now prepared to embark on a new chapter with French head coach Julien Stephan, who has reportedly secured a two-year contract to take over at Loftus Road. The extra revenue from the Sky Sports deal will ideally provide the incoming manager more financial flexibility for team building and long-term planning. Stephan’s track record in France, where he led Rennes to Champions League qualification and Strasbourg to their best league result in over 40 years, demonstrates his ability to work within a competitive budget.

QPR’s financial position compared to Championship rivals

General view of Portman Road

Queens Park Rangers’ TV income has kept them in a somewhat steady financial situation, albeit they do not have the advantage that clubs getting parachute payments do. The Hoops will compete on the same terms as the majority of second-tier clubs, who do not benefit from Premier League parachute payments, which can be worth up to £49 million in the first year after relegation. Essentially, this creates a two-tier financial system inside the league, with demoted Premier League clubs like Ipswich Town receiving significantly higher sums than established Championship sides – thus Julien Stephan will be eager to come in and battle for promotion.
