Newcastle United have received clearance to press ahead with transfer business this week as the main summer window officially reopens. Manager Eddie Howe is now expected to fully shift focus to squad strengthening efforts following the brief closure of the market.
The global transfer window had temporarily paused last Tuesday after an early opening created for clubs involved in the newly expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup. While the provision primarily supported those heading to the tournament in the United States, it permitted all clubs to conduct early business.
With that phase now concluded, normal operations resume, and six potential moves involving Newcastle could take shape in the coming days.
James Trafford
Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford has caught attention following a standout season in the Championship. Talks are said to be underway between Newcastle and the England shot-stopper. If a deal is finalised, questions could emerge over the future of Nick Pope. Leeds United are among the clubs linked with Pope, although a return to Burnley could also appeal if Trafford makes the switch to Tyneside.
Marc Guehi
Interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi remains strong at Newcastle. The Magpies were heavily linked with a move last summer and still consider him a key defensive target. Newcastle now hold the added pull of Champions League football.
