When asked about the player last year, former Reading manager Ruben Selles characterised him as a ‘special’ character. He stated, “He’s a player who is quite loud. I believe that couple has been fairly consistent. Amadou’s conditions make him distinctive. His character, demeanour, manner, background, and the way he battles for his opportunity. He arrived in France in less than ideal conditions after leaving his home nation of Senegal. “We are all really considering him. He’s a distinct character who is a player and someone you want on your side. One thing we have in this group is the freedom to express ourselves without fear of being judged. It brings me joy to see him alive because he’s different from the norm. When we win he is the happiest player, when we lose he is the one telling the other ones that we are going to come back stronger.”
