Huddersfield Town are in the running to sign Millwall defender Murray Wallace this summer.

Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon page that the Terriers and rival League One club Blackpool are vying for the 32-year-old’s signing.

The versatile Scottish defender has spent eight seasons at Millwall, making over 200 appearances.

However, due to a lack of playing time last season, Wallace’s contract was not renewed, attracting the attention of the aforementioned suitors.

Football League World’s Huddersfield Town fan pundit, Graeme Rayner, believes Wallace may be a valuable addition to the Terriers.

Huddersfield Town backed to sign Murray Wallace

“We’ve been linked with a couple of experienced pros at centre-half,” replied Graeme. “Liam Cooper and Murray Wallace have both previously attended Huddersfield.

“Neither of them are exciting possibilities, but they are both players who would provide experience and a bit of finesse or nous to the position that we will lose when Tom Lees and Matty Pearson leave.

“So, I believe that with some of the less experienced players in that area of the pitch that we’ve signed, it’s extremely beneficial to be associated with some guys who are natural leaders, a little more tough, a little more wily, who understand the requirements of the English game and can both do a job in League One.

“The main concern is that Murray Wallace only played half the games last season. So, is he capable of playing Saturday and Tuesday football each week? We will see. But I believe they are sensible possibilities, therefore no objections.”

Wallace would be a smart addition for Huddersfield Town

The Terriers have been active in the early stages of the 2025 summer transfer window, signing Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness, Sean Roughan, and Joe Low at this time.

Bringing Wallace in on a free transfer would be a wise move, putting talent and experience into Lee Grant’s defence.

Although the defender is not the most thrilling addition, his extensive playing time in the Championship can only benefit Huddersfield, even if his impact on the Millwall team waned last season.

Murray has already spent four years at John Smith’s Stadium, so he would be returning to familiar surroundings.

As Grant continues to build a side capable of challenging for promotion from League One, signing the Scottish defender this summer could prove to be a sensible decision.
