Leeds United backed to go ‘all out’ to sign ‘powerful’ Premier League striker on one key condition

Leeds United have kickstarted their summer transfer business with the signing of Lukas Nmecha. But he might not be the only striker arriving in the coming weeks.

Leeds United signed Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer. The 26-year-old is Daniel Farke’s first signing of the year, let alone the summer, and he arrives just on time.
Mateo Joseph is rumored to be leaving Leeds United for Real Betis in an £8.5 million move, with the club also signing Junior Firpo on a free transfer this summer.

Nmecha’s arrival alleviates some of Farke’s concerns. His striker department is already small, so Joseph departing without a rapid replacement would have been a concern.

Nmecha may not be the only forward to arrive at Elland Road shortly, as Leeds United are currently linked with a number of attackers. One such player is Rodrigo Muniz.

Lee Hendrie drops verdict on Rodrigo Muniz to Leeds United

Leeds United is interested in signing Muniz this summer. Last season, the Fulham striker was a standout substitute for the Cottagers, netting eight goals in 33 Premier League games while outperforming Erling Haaland in terms of goals per minute. A transfer to West Yorkshire may be tricky, however, since Fulham want £50 million for Muniz this summer.

Lee Hendrie, a pundit for Football League World, has expressed his opinion on the situation. He believes that Muniz to Elland Road could work if Leeds can reduce the price to roughly £35 million.

Hendrie said: “He may add something to Leeds; he’s a powerful centre-forward with plenty of goals, but I think the price tag may deter them. You’re investing £50 million.

“I know striker costs are sky-high these days, and I believe Leeds may be unable to afford £50 million. For how brilliant he is, I believe Leeds will put this one on hold unless they can reach an agreement to sell him for a reasonable fee, possibly around £35-40 million.

“If that happens, I think Leeds would go all out to get him because I believe he would fit in with their team. He’s a hungry centre-forward, and that’s how Leeds plays.”

Fulham fans have given Leeds United their answer on Rodrigo Muniz

While Muniz was primarily a backup player for Marco Silva last season, rather than an impact player, Fulham fans are confident Muniz will stay with the club this summer, having recently laughed off Leeds United’s rumored interest in the Brazilian.

That could explain why Fulham have slapped a £50 million price tag on his head: at 24 years old, he is still a reasonably young player, and next season he could be Fulham’s main man, with a track record of scoring goals in the Premier League already.

Muniz has always appeared to be an ambitious aim for Leeds, and convincing Fulham to reduce their asking price to £35 million may be a tall order. But expect Farke to have a large list of striker targets, including several strikers we haven’t heard of yet, as with the Nmecha deal.
