Rekeem Harper, a midfielder for Port Vale, is acquired by Barrow AFC.

“I spoke with the Gaffer recently, and our goals aligned. It’s amazing to finally get it done, and I’m happy to be here at this football club,” Harper said on the club’s official YouTube channel.

“That stood out to me because it’s a fearless club that wants to move up the ladder and the table, and I want to be at a club with a winning environment and at a team that has big goals.”

Last season, Harper earned a promotion with Port Vale, currently a SkyBet League One team, after the Valiants placed second in League Two.

He made 21 appearances for The Valiants overall and scored one goal for the team captained by Darren Moore. In 2017, he made his Baggies debut in an EFL Cup match against Accrington Stanley after rising through the ranks with West Bromwich Albion.

In the same season, he also made his Premier League debut, entering the game late in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Harper enjoyed a loan stint with Birmingham City during the second part of the 2020–2021 season and made 40 first team appearances for the Baggies in the Premier League and SkyBet Championship.

After a £500,000 transfer to Ipswich Town in the summer of 2021, he played 19 games for the Tractor Boys before accumulating further playing time while on loan at Crewe Alexandra and Exeter City.

He then signed a two-year contract with Barrow, which will see him formally join the team on July 1st, pending EFL approval, after making more permanent moves to Burton Albion and Port Vale.

In addition to Scott Smith, Innes Cameron, and Jack Earing, Harper is Barrow’s fourth summer addition.
