Stoke City’s newest transfer news: Mark Robins has reportedly joined the race for a Ligue 2 midfielder.
Stoke City and other Sky Bet Championship clubs are reportedly interested in Clermont Foot’s highly regarded midfielder, Habib Keïta. The 23-year-old, who plays primarily defensively in the heart of the park, joined the Ligue 2 club from Olympique Lyonnais in 2023.

Last season, he played a key role for Les Auvergnats, making 30 appearances across all competitions. However, he did not appear in the final five games of the season, which coincided with his choice to change agents—typically an indication of a player wishing to move on.
According to French news outlet L’Equipe, the Malian ‘is likely to quit’ Clermont Foot this summer, despite the fact that his contract runs until 2027.
Keïta’s admirers include the Potters and Queens Park Rangers, but other English second-tier clubs are also interested in signing him.
According to Transfermarkt, the midfield maestro will only cost Stoke £1.5 million, as Mark Robins seeks to bolster his team and push on to perhaps compete for the play-off positions next season.
The West Midlands club almost avoided relegation to League One last season, ending just two points above the drop zone in 18th place. Similarly, Clermont required a relegation play-off victory over Boulogne to keep their Ligue 2 status.
