During the 2023–2024 season, the young player made one appearance for the first team.
Theo Mawene, a young player from Preston North End, has joined Brentford.

The midfielder’s two-year scholarship ended this summer, and the Lilywhites activated their one-year option. However, the Bees quickly acquired him, reportedly for a “significant undisclosed fee.”
Additionally, PNE has acknowledged that a sell-on clause is included in the agreement, and they stand to benefit from any future prosperity Mawene experiences. During the previous season, the teenager was connected to both Brighton and Brentford.
Following Mawene’s performance in PNE’s 4-1 FA Youth Cup victory over Liverpool at Deepdale, those connections were apparent. In the following round, scouts were reportedly deployed to Manchester United to watch Mawene.
Mawene, the son of former North End fan hero Youl and the younger brother of fellow midfielder Noah, had two appearances for the main team. In April 2024, he came off the bench against Leicester City, and in March, he did the same against Aston Villa.
