Members News: “Happy Birthday, Peter!” Former Sky Blue Gaffer is 69 today.
Today marks the 69th birthday of our member, former Sky Blue “gaffer” Peter Reid! He was born on June 20, 1956, in Huyton, Lancashire.
Although his managing record has been more inconsistent, Peter was a highly regarded defender with teams like Everton, Bolton Wanderers, Queen’s Park Rangers, and Manchester City, among others.
From 2004–05, Peter managed CCFC for nearly a year. Peter has extensive managerial experience with Manchester City, Sunderland, Leeds United, Plymouth Argyle, and England U21s.
He also managed the Thailand national team in 2008–09, though his eight months at Highfield Road were not seen as a success.
After that, he helped Tony Pulis at Stoke City in 2009 before spending a season at Plymouth Argyle.
In the first year of the Indian Super League, Peter was named coach of Mumbai City FC in September 2014.
He joined former England goalie David James and Brazilian icon Zico as ISL managers, and later the former Sky Blue striker Robbie Keane.
Peter most recently rejoined his original team, Bolton Wanderers, as a coach for the 2016–17 campaign. He still serves as a television analyst on a number of channels.
Peter’s autobiography, “Cheer Up,” was published in October 2017; Sir Alex Ferguson provided a preface.
Have a great day today Peter!
