Exclusive: Salford City respond to Bolton Wanderers’ Kelly Nmai bid

According to Football Insider, Bolton Wanderers’ bid for Salford City attacker Kelly Nmai was denied.

The Gary Neville and David Beckham-owned club has turned down the offer as they fight to maintain hold of the 21-year-old, who had a breakout season at the Peninsula Stadium last season.

Nmai has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the EFL after impressing at Salford, and sources have told Football Insider that Bolton has attempted to sign him to strengthen their attacking options.

Last season, the Dutchman scored nine goals and assisted four times, and he might leave this summer after Karl Robinson’s Ammies finished eighth and just one point out of the League Two playoffs.

Bolton mean business with Kelly Nmai pursuit

Nmai isn’t the only highly sought-after Ammies player this summer; on June 11, Football Insider reported that Premier League club Burnley had failed to sign Salford teenager Kyrell Malcolm.

Although the value of Bolton’s initial approach for Nmai has not been revealed, Football Insider sources say it was rejected because Salford anticipates additional clubs circling their highly rated number 10.

Bolton, on the other hand, has already made substantial progress this summer, and if they are successful in their second approach for Nmai, he will become their fifth new recruit of the transfer window, following some outstanding business.

Football Insider’s Verdict

Football Insider reported on June 6 that Bolton had won the race to recruit Wrexham striker Sam Dalby, who finished as the Scottish Premiership’s joint third-highest scorer while on loan at Dundee United.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe, a Chelsea youth goalkeeper, could soon join the Trotters, who spent over £300,000 on Hull City midfielder Xavier Simons and signed St. Mirren defender Richard Taylor.

With Dalby leading the charge and Simons in midfield, Nmai might be an important piece of the Trotters’ puzzle, but only if Steven Schumacher’s side is successful in another attempt for the ex-Man City and Manchester United trialist.
