Not Muniz or Krstovic: Leeds now hold talks with reps of ‘elite’ striker for Farke

Leeds United have contacted Nice striker Evann Guessand’s agents regarding a summer transfer, according to TBR Football.

The Whites are aiming to enhance their team for manager Daniel Farke after gaining promotion to the Premier League after two years in the Championship with a 100-point season, and they want to acquire a striker to propel them to safety.

A number nine is considered a key signing at Elland Road this summer, and Leeds have now made contact with one of the continent’s most sought-after frontmen.

With Patrick Bamford poised to depart the club and Mateo Joseph’s future uncertain, Leeds are actively seeking a new number nine to compete with Joel Piroe.

That has led them to Nice star Guessand, and sources now indicate that the 49ers have spoken with his representatives to determine his condition ahead of what is expected to be a hectic summer transfer window.

Fenerbahce has also held conversations, with the player communicating directly with Jose Mourinho, while Tottenham, Wolves, West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Brighton are all interested in the striker.

Games 33
Goals 12
Assists 8
Goal-creating actions 17
Minutes played 2,565

Guessand, who has been described as ‘exceptional’, scored 12 goals and eight assists in Ligue 1 during the 2024/25 season and is regarded as a viable alternative for the Whites provided they can reach an agreement with the French club.

But the Ivory Coast international isn’t the only one on their radar. Leeds have previously had a £32 million bid rejected by Fulham for Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz, while reports in Italy indicate the club has a ‘advanced interest’ in striker Nikola Krstovic and is close to reaching an agreement with Lecce on a deal.
