Rangers go crazy over Major Lawrence Shankland update.

Rangers fans are naturally ecstatic as Captain James Tavernier posted a snapshot of his annual summer training session in Dubai, this time with long-term Rangers target Lawrence Shankland.
Ibrox Noise had previously reported that Shankland was 99% close to joining West Brom in the Championship, but no agreement was ever signed or agreed upon, and other teams remain interested in the Scotland international’s services. He is, of course, aiming for the one move he truly desires—to join Tavernier at Ibrox. Is this going to happen? Unfortunately for Shankland, the bulk of Rangers fans no longer appear to support him—at least not as strongly as they previously did. He is a Rangers player, a prolific goalscorer, and he is technically still the current captain of Hearts. The manager at Tynecastle, Derek McInnes, hopes to persuade his captain to stay, but there really is very little chance of that. Hearts can’t afford the wage that Shankland wants. They can’t deliver the level of ambition he’s aiming for.
Lawrence wants to earn roughly £20,000 or more per week. He’s slowly approaching 30 now, and this is his last chance to make a significant move. He no longer wants Hearts, and they cannot afford to pay what he desires—or, to be fair, deserves. Rangers fans are already remembering his disastrous season from last year. Ibrox Noise is certain that this is the worst approach to evaluate Shankland’s abilities as a Rangers player. He knew he wanted to depart before the season even started. As a result, the head dropped definitively, and he simply wasn’t feeling it that year. The second issue, of course, was that he wasn’t being used as a real nine. Most fans won’t realise that Shankland’s position was actually as a ten. That’s right—the ex-manager Paul Critchley put him in a role that wasn’t ideal for his strengths, and he didn’t score half as many.
So, on top of not wanting to be there, he was playing in the wrong position. Hardly the best way to assess a striker’s merits.
Rangers fans don’t appear to want him at Ibrox. But the truth is that Shankland’s striker stats—when played in the right position—are phenomenal. He was, of course, Player of the Year the previous season. Let us not overlook that minor detail. Shankland would be an excellent addition for Rangers, and he is a completely risk-free signing. His pay would be reasonable, he would arrive on a Bosman, and he is a Rangers fan. And as soon as you reveal someone is a Rangers fan, the detractors dismiss it with “Oh well, I could play for Rangers too, I’m a Rangers fan.” Apparently forgetting the player’s true merits.
However, the only people who disregard his abilities are those who just do not want him to join the Rangers in the first place. Yes, Ibrox Noise would absolutely take Shankland. And, while Tavernier’s snapshot doesn’t reveal anything more than Shankland’s preparation for the new season, it’s a nice signal that he may still want to join the Rangers.
