Rangers vs. Panathinaikos venue change for Champions League match will greatly benefit traveling supporters

In the second leg of their qualification, the Ibrox team travels to play the Greek giants.

The Champions League matchup between Panathinaikos and Rangers at the Olympic Stadium in Athens is expected to be confirmed.

Following this week’s draw, Russell Martin’s team will have a difficult time defeating the Greeks. The first leg will take place at Ibrox at the end of next month.

Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, Panathinaikos‘ dilapidated home, is undergoing renovations, and the team will play in their spiritual home for the upcoming campaign.

However, it won’t be prepared for their match against Rangers.

Another issue is that the roof of Athens’ Olympic Stadium is being repaired, but Panathinaikos has been assured by the Greek government that the work will not begin until after the match.

Given that Panathinaikos rarely comes near to selling out at most of their European games, Rangers supporters won’t have any trouble finding tickets thanks to the stadium’s enormous 65,000 capacity.

Rangers will also feel more at ease knowing that their second leg match in the qualifying round won’t be a genuine home game for their hosts.
