Brendan Rodgers told ‘outstanding’ Celtic player has had his ‘head turned’ and he can now ‘go’

Celtic are starting to make some moves on the transfer market. The 2025 summer transfer window opened this week, and Brendan Rodgers has already recruited two players to his roster for next season.

The predicted news of Kieran Tierney’s return has been verified, and Celtic have carried on that theme by signing goalkeeper Ross Doohan from Aberdeen on Friday.

However, all of these are incomings, and supporters will be concerned about which key players may go in the coming weeks and months.

Will he step in as a replacement for Rodgers, who is rumored to be bolstering his wide areas by signing Benjamin Nygren? Or to challenge? Because one man is being seriously investigated.

Nicolas Kuhn had his ‘head turned’ at Celtic.

Nicolas Kuhn was on track to win the Player of the Year award in December because he was tearing everyone apart and was Scotland’s top player.

But then something changed: Frank McAvennie believes the ‘excellent’ winger left more on the pitch in the second half of the season.

McAvennie stated on his Let Me Be Frank Podcast that Kuhn has had his ‘head twisted’ and that the door is open for him to depart if he wishes.

Simon Houston stated: “Further up the park, it appears that they are set to sign the Swedish winger, Benjamin Nygren, from FC Nordsjaelland.

According to sources, he is set to join Celtic. So, this takes us to the Nicolas Kuhn problem. “He was an enigma and a mystery last year.”

McAvennie continued: “He didn’t kick a ball last year. He was great early in the season. For three or four months, I thought he was in a different class.

“Something turned his head. I encourage people to do so. If they want to go, they can. Don’t play games with your supporters. You cannot walk onto a pitch and not do it.

“I believe he left an awful lot on the pitch. I believe he has walked off the pitch with a lot more energy in his locker because he could have done so much more on the field.

This is my view. “But he’s an excellent player. He proved to be an excellent player. Then, all of a sudden, he went back to the way he was in season one.

Kuhn’s 2024/25 Celtic stats are divided into two halves.

When you look at the big picture, scoring 21 goals and providing 14 assists is serious business, even for a championship-winning team.

However, everyone is aware that the majority of that was produced during the first part of the campaign, which is why there is so much buzz around Kuhn.

Despite Kuhn’s Champions League goal against Bayern Munich, everything changed for him.

When Kuhn turns it on, no one can stop him, so maybe you can give him the benefit of the doubt because he has demonstrated more than just something.
